Srinagar 23rd May 2018 (KNO) : Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik has strongly condemned the prolonged incarceration of Moulana Sarjan Barkati who is languishing in jail from 2016. Moulana Barkati has been charged under many ridiculous charges and dozens of fabricated cases have been lodged against him and courts have acquitted him of all the charges. In 2016, he was booked under PSA and sent to Kot-balwal Jammu jail.

After high court quashed his PSA, police instead of releasing him booked him under various fabricated cases and till date he is being kept in incarceration under these frivolous charges. JKLF chairman said that a person who is the only bread earner of a big family has been kept in jails from last two years and his family is suffering because of this apathy. Recently on court orders he was released from central jail Srinagar but was re-arrested from jail premises by CIK and from last three days his whereabouts are unknown.

Three days back he was released by Shupian court but soon after his release, he was again arrested JKLF chairman appealed ICRC to look into this matter and ensure Moulana Sarjan Barkati’s release. Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik has paid rich tributes to great JKLF martyr's Bashir Ahmad Dar @ Salim Malik, Mohammad Maqbool Dar (Military man), Maulana Abdul Gani of Beerwah, Ghulam Mohammad and Abdul Aziz (fighter) on their martyrdom day. While recalling the struggle and sacrifice of these great martyrs, JKLF chairman said that martyr Salim Malik was a great soul whose struggle and sacrifices for freedom of Jammu Kashmir will always be remembered. JKLF chairman said that a freedom struggle that is nourished by the sacred blood of such martyrs can never go in vain and today when we recall these great martyrs, we pledge to take forward their mission to its desired goal of freedom.

Meanwhile a delegation from Kulgam today visited JKLF office at Srinagar and met with the chairman JKLF. Delegation informed JKLF chairman of the hardships Kulgam residents are facing at the hands of police, army and other forces. Delegation said that Kulgam villages like Badroo, Mudibugh, Yambrach, Kaimoh, Khudwani, Owoora etc have become a special target of these forces and nocturnal raids, arrests and vandalizing properties have become an order of the day. JKLF chairman strongly condemned this oppression by Indian colonial forces.
